Implications

Implications

the wanting
the unease
 the sense of lack..
contentment on hold
until we find..
once found
separation dissolves
and reveals
that lack we held
was all along
already
fulfilled as an
inner treasure..

however..
apparently..as
the journey repeats
and repeats
 the contentment
we need and seek
thru failure and pain
must also fuel
 the engine of
 creation...

Yes...?

The Body Recognized

The Body Recognized

in brief..
we misidentify our bodies
by forms assumed over
our years..

experience reports the
images by which we
have contained and weighed
and gendered the body
for so long..

now we must ponder that
our time-space body
as it walks and talks
is quite narrowing of a
new dimensionless
recognition..
in brief...

Breathing

Breathing

a simple experience
of being aware
here and now..
as inhale transcends
we bathe in the fullness
of our true Self..
the exhale greets
the forests and fields
as we discover
their coloring and
shaping of the
breathtaking
Self...

'Natural breathing requires the entire body, it is not just the work of the mouth and lungs. Indeed, the lungs play an almost passive role during the entire process — they function as a valve for the air to pass and filter through. Watch when an infant breathes, how their stomachs rise and fall as the air circuits their system. The air moves through the nostrils, filling the belly first, then the rib cage expands. The whole cycle is relaxed and gentle, there is no haste or worry. The respiratory wave flows through the pelvic floor and circulates the breath around the hips and down to the feet, grounding the energy down into a calmer vibration. This is the natural way of breathing.

Consciousness in motion

Consciousness in motion

When we know
there is consciousness only
all motion then is
consciousness moving..

Nothing else moves..

Recognizing this
marks our
only life purpose...

Journeys

There are many journeys...
There are journeys in which we as travelers observe
the world from conventional windows of body and mind.
There is another journey which involves a recognition
that I Am much more than my old belief that my limited
body and mind is who I am.  Also.. to discover that my
belief in limitation is the root of my suffering and
longing.  The new journey belongs to the experience of
Non-Duality, in which are found to be two legs:  the
inward, and the outward.  The inward leg results in the
discovery of our Unlimited nature, and the outward leg
is a "return" to the world..beginning a life-long
realignment in our lives based on a joyful new
Understanding...

Wineskins

Wineskins

the old ones
cannot hold new wine
 causing them
to split and crumble..
the new ones
 are fresh models
prodding for recognition
midst the crumbling..

we seek explanations for
revolutionary changes which
 surprise and frighten..
religion and science
and politics
struggle to place
new thought and findings
into old wineskins..

and the shocking news
is that each one of us carries
the new wineskin in
our own experience:
 recognizing now the
unity and peace
of inside and out..
and more shocking:
this intimate wineskin
 never has been old..

Mary Oliver...

Thanks, Robin!!  Charlie

Dear Lovers of Life & Poetry,

I trust by now most of you’ve heard that our Beloved Mary Oliver died January 17, 2019 of lymphoma.  Mary was an unapologetic, life-long smoker, (as was Molly), and Mary lived through lung cancer in 2012, but it was a matter of time.  She was 83, and died at her home in Hobe Sound, Florida, another place, besides Provincetown, that she dearly loved.

As I am slowly recovering from the magnitude of knee replacement surgery, and not up to all my usual pursuits and passions, I am more than ever reminded that each day Mary urged us to do whatever we can to “build the universe.”

To honor all the Beauty, Joy, and Inspired Word & Heart Mary has given us over the long decades of her Poet-Life, may we continue to do, in our own ways, no less.

With gentle compassion to us All, for we have lost a Great Soul & Source of Nourishment.    xoxox Robin

SONG OF THE BUILDERS

On a summer morning
I sat down
on a hillside
to think about God—

a worthy pastime.
Near me, I saw
a single cricket;
it was moving the grains of the hillside

this way and that way.
How great was its energy,
how humble its effort.
Let us hope

it will always be like this,
each of us going on
in our inexplicable ways
building the universe.

Vibrations

Vibrations

we need only understand

that reality consists only of
consciousness and vibrations..
and that the above sentence
is most inaccurate..
vibrations are not separate
from consciousness..
but are within..known by..
and made of consciousness..
vibration is experience
the activity of consciousness
nothing more..nothing less...

Friends - Here's a new take on what we say to others that we probably have never considered.  At least, some wisdom here.

Water and Wine II

Water and Wine II

See: John 2: 1-11

How can we use metaphor to assist us in a new universal understandings?
Consider the metaphor of the ocean and waves.  (Water is to the ocean,
as wine is to waves.)  Each of us is having a wave experience, each wave
different, and we believe that the many and various waves mark the
realities of our lives..with all of its struggles and joys. That is..until
we notice the ocean! We, as temporary waves, as well as the ocean, are
all made of water!
We are water!
Who would have thought?!

The Cana metaphor is similar..prompting our notice that wine
comes entirely from water (see image),  is made entirely of water.
(all metaphors have imperfections!)  But, might we experience the
pervading Oneness expressed in metaphor?
Each of us is that Oneness.  Not magic..but Real metaphorical
Experience!

And, there is more.  Jesus is most direct with his mother, telling her that
his hour has not yet come. What could this possibly have do with water
and wine?   The hour to which he refers is, of course, the crucifixion
and resurrection.  Back to the metaphor..even though we have
experienced the Oneness of the ocean and wave (water and wine), alas
we forget, and forgetting brings back the suffering which results from
the appearance and belief in separation (sin is the religious name).
Apparently, we need to crucify this belief, again and again, by
remembering once more who we are…wine resurrecting as water..
wave resurrecting as ocean (water).
Metaphorically speaking, that is!!

Water and Wine

Water and Wine

it is a
matter of belief
a religious persuasion
that the conversion
was a miracle
 unquestioned..
marking a tribe..

 might we find
an expression of
this astonishing story
for a more universal
understanding..

to his mother
he was direct:
that his hour had
not yet come..
how we ask is
this related to
the rest of the story..

water
 stands forth as our
 essence divine..
wine
for all experience
for lives seeming
to be separate..
the Cana conversion
calmly asserts: wine
is made of water..

 a new hour
will know suffering
born of fear and desire
a forgetting of Cana..
 wine is resurrected
 recognized as water
our essence clarified
as a miracle unveils...

(ref:  John 2: 1-11)

the mixture

the mixture

we are a mixture
of the objects we
know and sense and see..
plus that in which these
all reside..
which for most is the
body limited..carrying
a mind confined..this
quick capture of
the insistent
and wary ego..

our civilization
stands on the belief framed
 in the snapshot above..
except for those open
 to non-objective truth..
a recognition which ignites
a consuming burn of
 the belief fomented by
the now revealing
 mixture..

Rupert Spira makes the case for embracing one unique authority: the absolute knowledge of our own being. It is the only thing that all people have in common, the source of the peace and fulfillment for which all people long. For this reason, it is the only knowledge there is that could serve as a foundation for world peace,

doors of perception

doors of perception
when cleansed will reveal
our true nature..
this is the sage advice
of a statured voice..

the cleansing
clears away beliefs
which have imprisoned
for so very long..
beliefs of locations
and of timespans
which have locked
the doors of access to
our infinite blue sky..

freedom awaits
as in hasty fashion
we release the hold
of stifling beliefs
and sink into the blue..
then from the viewpoint
of an infinite self
we understand that
the doors were never
closed...

Listening to Edgar Allan Poe

Listening to Edgar Allan Poe

Amazing! (see below)
from Edgar Allan Poe
early 19th century..

we await this awakening
today!

switching of identities
sometime in our lifetime
is the one and only
purpose we have..

Jehovah replaces Man
as felt identity..
beliefs are cast aside
and our activities
are activities of That
which we are...

Think that the sense of individual identity will be gradually merged in the general consciousness—that Man, for example, ceasing imperceptibly to feel himself Man, will at length attain that awfully triumphant epoch when he shall recognize his existence as that of Jehovah. In the meantime bear in mind that all is Life—Life—Life within Life—the less within the greater, and all within the Spirit Divine."

- Edgar Allan Poe (1809 - 1849)
Eureka: A Prose Poem

Vigilance

habits are ingrained
and return
after recognition and
understanding of the faulty
claims of separation..which
we have assumed so long..
slipping back to the habits
of belief..the identities
of occupation and religion
and many more..
vigilant we must be 24/7
to return and rest in what
is always True...

"Going outward with attention towards identification feels rough because it is like swimming against the flow of the river. Gently gently, flow with the natural movement of consciousness. It is simple and without story. Training the mind to respond to this pull takes some vigilance if there has been a lifetime of looking externally for something you now know is not to be found out there."

the blind spot

the blind spot
in science..
it is the assumption
of the world as itself
which is investigated..
it is disheartening
for scientists to hear
that objectivity as
known by your method
is illusion..and more:
is a blind spot rendering
Reality as unknown
without recognizing your
flawed assumption..
material reality
studied for a lifetime..
a tragedy until...

Seeds of Suffering

Seeds of Suffering

suffering
seems unexplainable
and raises the old question:
why the divine allowing..

but hidden
at the source of spiritual ways
is a remedy..
yet the profound simplicity is
such that seekers shy away..

mistaken identity informs:
we believe we are a portion
not the whole..and this alone
seeds our suffering..

the seed disapproves of
how it is right now..and
plans an escape to distract..
such is life lived as portion..

the seed suffers
until it finds the glitch
which impedes the
healing it seeks..

diving into the suffering
reveals our wholeness
and roots out the belief
in life lived as portion..

Baptism

Baptism

Questions...
1.  What is your understanding of the Bible as metaphor?
2.  How is "water" used as metaphor in the Bible and elsewhere?
3.  What is a "baptism of fire?"
4.  How about a "Wall" as metaphor?

Lectionary:  Luke 3:15-22 New International Version (NIV)

15 The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Messiah. 16 John answered them all, “I baptize you with[a] water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with[b] the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
21 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

Did You Know?
In Christianity, baptism is the sacrament of admission to the church, symbolized by the pouring or sprinkling of water on the head or by immersion in water. The ceremony is usually accompanied by the words “I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” In the doctrine originated by St. Paul, it signifies the wiping away of past sins and the rebirth of the individual into a new life. Judaism practiced ritual purification by immersion, and the Gospels report that John the Baptist baptized Jesus. Baptism was an important ritual in the early church by the first century ce, and infant baptism appeared c. 200 ce. Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and most Protestant churches practice infant baptism. The Anabaptist reformers insisted on adult baptism after a confession of faith; modern Baptists and the Disciples of Christ also practice adult baptism.

Epiphany

Epiphany

the story of epiphany
in Christian lore casts the
 dilemma of Herod pained
by intense insecurity..

 with men from the East
he deceitfully seeks help
in his search to end
 unrelenting unease..

he lives in separation
believing peace and ease
must be located somewhere
 in his kingdom of places..

this fellow sufferer
like most in our culture
 search in geography to
calm throbbing desires..

to find..or not..that the
satisfaction we seek is
available immediately when
we call off our search...

Waiting for the Wise Men

Waiting for the Wise Men

 worried
holders of power
use their wile
their walls and wire to
separate and discourage..
we are waiting
 each of us..to
waken as wise..
and to know that
wile and wall and wire
cannot separate
the knowing of grace
which when known
lights another
path home...

Bulletproof

Bulletproof

How is it
that we can make an argument
bulletproof..

We might say that if the argument
addresses both sides of a question
and demonstrates affiliation with both
and points out that diminishing one side
diminishes the other..

However..note that when all is said
in accordance with the advice
there remain two sides of what is
perceived as reality..

So..to be truly bulletproof
the argument itself must dissolve
in the silence from which it arose..
Silence speaking alone is bulletproof...

On the outside looking in

On the outside looking In

that is where we seem to be
most of us..most of the time..
and in some moments
feel a pull
and approach the inside..
but a fear overtakes
and we wing away..

we retreat to our
place in the matrix
upheld by beliefs
and the appearances
so convincing in our
life on the outside..

if questioning does
not insist..we make
the outside as comfortable
as possible..and live
our lives..soothing as
we are able the outside
desperation..

on a more hopeful note:
we might take a
longer look at an
inside invitation..and
recognize home...

What are Objects?

What are objects?

a silly question many will say
an interruption to things of importance..
the chair is the chair..now on to my
daily schedule..uninterrupted please..
however..after much searching to
satisfy desires..pausing with the question
might be finally reconsidered..finding that
an inbred belief in objects can be rattled
with attention to experience..telling of the
frailty of of such belief..
we experience in wholes..not in chairs
claiming their independence..
the chair reconsidered shows up as
perception temporarily..then perceiving..
a walking back to the Reality which
has been quietly waiting for
recognition..
those objects we knew before the question
now appear as they always appeared
but somehow now..satisfying the desires
we had painfully pursued...
