Blink of an eye

Blink of an eye

That bygone flow arrives and
stitches together a series of nows..
Each now blinks and is gone
new nows blink in their turn..
Each blink seems quick to say
that we are blinded by time
that our viewpoint need change
that separation made time...
Our return to simple Awareness
heals and seals
beauty invades time...

This review is from: A Farewell to Arms: The Hemingway Library Edition (Kindle Edition)
This is a most excellent Edition of a classic. The "value added" is the including of Forewards
by Patrick and Sean, Hemingway's sons, and the addition of the "Alternative Endings" and
"Beginnings" which Ernest Hemingway considered in his writing of Farewell. Patrick points to
what he considers the most important aspect of this Edition, the aspect of Erwin Schrodinger.
So, what does Patrick mean? Erwin Schrodinger was a physicist, famous for his Live/Dead
Cat mind experiment, in which the cat, before observation, is both dead and alive...a quick
course in quantum physics. This unknowing position is called a Superposition, and Farewell's
Catherine lived in that state until Hemingway could decide among some forty-seven alternative
endings...! In World War 1, Schrodinger served on the Austrian side, and Hemingway the Italian
side on this front of the war. Both died in 1961. Both received the Nobel Prize, Schrodinger for
physics, and Hemingway for literature. A quantum friendship..?

Endings

Endings

How he must have agonized..
Was his real Farewell ending
a created Superposition..?
Until he visioned his ending
and his pen a choice recorded
Cathrine remained both dead and alive..
His Superposition offered forty-seven
choices shaded with life and death..
In many of forty-seven worlds
life and death were poised
in one waking moment:
A new spring morning beckoned
for life and an electric light
reminded him of her ending
the past night he had recorded..
The question for us in these
quantum musings:
Was his Superposition moment
 on that spring morning
expressing his deeper and clearer
 truth..?  Or ours..?

"There are many more aspects of this
novel than are apparent at first glance.
This edition of A Farewell to Arms for the
first time makes available to the general
reader all the unpublished manuscript
material that literary scholars have used
in their professional papers to define an
explain some of the less obvious aspects.
For me, the most intriguing aspect is
Erwin Schrodinger." (bolding added)
-----Patrick Hemingway's Foreward in
Farewell to Arms

Who was Erwin Schrodinger..?

Both Schrodinger and Hemingway
served on the Austrian/Italian front
in WW1, Schrodinger on the
Austrian side, and Hemingway
on the Italian..
Both died in 1961..
Both received the
Nobel prize:
Schrodinger in physics
Hemingway in literature..

Schrödinger's cat is a famous illustration of the principle in quantum theory of superposition, proposed by Erwin Schrödinger in 1935.  Here's Schrödinger's (theoretical) experiment: We place a living cat into a steel chamber, along with a device containing a vial of hydrocyanic acid. There is, in the chamber, a very small amount of hydrocyanic acid, a radioactive substance. If even a single atom of the substance decays during the test period, a relay mechanism will trip a hammer, which will, in turn, break the vial and kill the cat. The observer cannot know whether or not an atom of the substance has decayed, and consequently, cannot know whether the vial has been broken, the hydrocyanic acid released, and the cat killed. Since we cannot know, according to quantum law, the cat is both dead and alive, in what is called a superposition of states. It is only when we break open the box and learn the condition of the cat that the superposition is lost, and the cat becomes one or the other (dead or alive).

Farewell

Farewell

He bade Farewell to cruelty and pain
to war and lust and superpatriotism..
Experienced love as seed was planted..
the seed germinated and bloomed in
the happiness of his writing Spring..
Writing was his real home and there
each tragedy made his story whole..
Becoming the story he was a stream:
as writing paused he saw future bends
bends which shaped his happiness now..
In imagination his vision was clear
his perceptions were cleansed..
Tragedy lived as a virus lives
as appendage of a writing life-force..
Then when his writing light dimmed
the appendage gained strength
he sought for an end passing through
those forty-seven possibility doors..
Many doors marked a Moment
a vision of a Spring morning jolted
by electric remembering of death..
Finally his Farewell to simply walk
Walk away in the rain...

Forgetting

Forgetting

from Wordsworth
we learn that our birth
is but a sleep and a
forgetting..
Considering this moment
birthed just now brings
its separation and joy..
This birthing moment also
brings new forgetting
forgetting the before..
A purpose for life then
is remembering each
new birth of forgetting..

Torus dynamics

Torus dynamics

It may be that
the entire universe
is shaped as a torus..
This simple doughnut
through its rotation
inside becomes out
and outside in..
Upon recognition
it seems that all
reality is thus formed..
A center flow
channels upward
the curved energies
on each side..
In the channel
dwells a compressed
black hole which
becomes white..
White radiation then
curves with colors
and creation is
laid down again...

Layers

Layers

Time distorts
the reality of things..
One direction it claims
a forward path
as the only path..
But then perceiving
with eternal sense
time is illusion when
standing alone..
A new sense
reveals time's twin
brings symmetry with
new found peace..
Reality reveals as
layer upon layer
canvas upon canvas
awaiting the last
brushstroke to
perceive the All...

The Doors

The Doors

William Blake
called for cleansing
of doors of perception..
Doors as separators of
oppositions and others..
Removing these doors
exposing the illusion of
 duality's independence..
Then perceiving anew
shocked by beauty
an eternal glimpse...

The carrot

The carrot

The day is coming when
a single carrot
freshly observed
will set off a revolution.

Trust

Trust

Seemingly
does not arrive
from awareness
of separate self..
Separation asserts and
claims itself as all
we can know..
A suggestion dispatched
that real Awareness
brings trust..
Awareness reminds us
separation is not
separate but only
names and forms of
Itself...

Inside and Outside

Inside and Outside

So thru centuries
keeping separate..
excepting fringe poets
 knowers that
thru struggles find
the border marker
that Black line
need be erased..
Erasing the line
for some Thick
and others Thin
is revelation of
Oneness but also
stuck patterns..
Patterns which seem
true reality formed..
But by erasure
In and Out flow
is Reality unveiled...

Awareness without an Object

Awareness without an Object

In this place which
is not a place..
Our Awareness is aware
of itself..
With the inhale
sense the oneness
this transparent
high vibratory glow..
No objects attending
just Awareness aware
of itself.
Then the exhale
returns the object world
transformed in Now..
We project those objects
and find them immersed
in our lingering glow
with exclamation:
delicious..!
beautiful..!

To a friend

To a friend

comes these words..
My morning was filled
with an air filled grace
a trumpet Player
arrived with sounds
both Sharp and Sliding
Simultaneously
filling both outer
and Inner space..
I wished for you
to share these moments
an intention arose
for a future
Introduction... :)

The Well

The Well

An ancient symbol
of sacred form
finds upward flow
imagined gushing
of fountain waters..
Her intense longing
with this vision
the very ground
of her being..
The woman knew
so it seemed
from her birth
this upward sweep
of spirit within..

Yet the fountain
her stories veiled
 her life shadows
 long concealed..
Then that day
a traveler came
at day's noontime
at the well..
A kindred spirit
 in astonishment
a missing resonance
pierced her heart..

As on other days
to her village she
 returned but Now
with playful sound
 her messianic notes
were formed..
And with fortune
the traveler stayed
 more stories unveiled
filling the village
joy's grateful tones...

Viscosity

Viscosity

Our resistance
to deformation and flow
this is our thickness
 unwilling we are
to let go..
But letting go
is not being lost
the grittiness remains..
rubbing fingers together
feeling fine sand
the thinning of
what was before
thick shadows and
boulders of pain...

Spacetime

Spacetime

We and all
are enclosed and
interwoven..
This upper dimension
makes transparent
by observing
without ceasing..
And more than
observing
actually creating
in each moment..
We and all
then notice and
reply and thereby
reform the creator
in readiness
for co-creating
anew...

Gravity

Gravity

In the chaos
with fragments flying
damaging crafts and souls
yet a tether remained..
Those past simulations
crashes experienced with
foreboding repetitions
for this mission..

On another plane
driving and driving
dulled unbearable pain..
Here the gravity
in this black hole
a command urgent
to simply let go..

Vicarious feelings of
a family's love
a dog's barking..
Then resignation
 outcome dis-regard..
Advice from a dream
located the oneness
 launch and landing
a knowing grace of
ends and beginnings..

On the movie,
Gravity..

Becoming the Sail

Becoming the Sail

Water wind and sail
what of the ecstasy
of those who sail..
Those bright mornings
with water at peace
and those evenings
waves rough and roiled..
And the wind spirit
pressing powering and
yes destroying the sail..
The sail holding free
in a moment's haven
poised right there
 mid terror and peace..
They know quite well
ecstasy arrives in
 becoming the Sail...

the strangest thing

the strangest thing

let's look for someplace
where differences rule
and similarity with before
is hidden away..
here the questions loom
difficult and dense
pointing in directions
daunting and veiled
most anxious perceptions..
we need now removal
and lucid sleep
awaiting sudden leap
finding once more
simplicity answers call
and with astonishment
 strangest no more..
but then over there
beaconing
is the strangest thing...

"In any field, find the strangest
thing and then explore it."
John Archibald Wheeler

Hands

Hands

Imagined on the violin
the piano
work in spring garden..
These instruments of flesh
extended or not
create and produce
the work of our day..
connecting right and left
yet remaining
right and left..
Is this the simple secret
of how we are...

Superposition

Superposition

A quantum word
with startling message
a new paradigm
painting reality anew..
A most demanding
out-there
must now come
under deep scrutiny
and finally confess
 her disguises
of full truth..
Now exposed
by an intruder
with grander claim
out-there
is introduced to
Superposition
who turns him
outside-in...

What the Bleep do we Know!?

It is my opinion that everything must be based on a simple idea. And it is my opinion that this idea, once we have finally discovered it, will be so compelling, so beautiful, that we will say to one another, yes, how could it have been any different.
--John Archibald Wheeler

The poetic Wheeler is a prophet, standing like Moses on the top of Mount Pisgah, looking out over the promised land that his people will one day inherit.
— Freeman Dyson

Welcome to the What the Bleep Do We Know!?
At the core of this film are provocative questions about the way we participate in an unfolding, dynamic reality. What the Bleep Do We Know!? proposes that there is no solid, static universe, and that reality is mutable—affected by our very perception of it. At the same time, the film acknowledges that reality is not entirely relative or simply created out of thin air. Mothers do give birth to real babies. Some things are more solid and reliable than others.

Paradigm Shift
A paradigm is a philosophical or theoretical framework that holds our experience together and creates a coherent picture of reality—a worldview. What are the roots of our current prevailing paradigm? What worldview is articulated in What the Bleep!? What difference does our paradigm really make? Our worldview implies a way of knowing. This chapter also explores how to question claims of knowledge. What makes science, intuition, or channeled messages reliable or easy to dismiss?
Quantum Reality
What are the discoveries of quantum physics? What challenges do they pose to our current worldview? What do the discoveries of quantum physics tell us about the nature of reality? Many of the pioneers in quantum physics disagreed on the implications of their discoveries. Explore different explanations and perspectives on this mind-boggling science or add your own.
Creating Our Days
How can we create our days consciously and with clear intention? What is the scientific evidence for the power of intention? How can we know if our intention is having an effect? Here we explore both the extent and limits of our creative capacities and offer guidance on establishing our own practices for creating our days.
Healing the Past
How can we let go of old stories and shift the way we interact with the world? Here we explore ways in which emotional patterns can become biomechanical processes, and we introduce pathways to begin liberating ourselves from past conditioning.
