Recognizing desires... (with David Hawkins)

Recognizing desires

All of our desires spring
From Happiness shaded by
Something seemingly separate..
Most of our lives are spent
Looking for..or losing
That something..
Until that moment when we
Recognize that Happiness
Is never lost but awaits our
Lifting the shade...

“Desire is fueled by the illusion of lack and that the source of happiness is outside oneself and therefore has to be pursued or acquired. The importance of the object of desire is thereby inflated and overvalued by its symbolism and mystique. The pleasure of the sense of Self is blocked by desire. When that desire is fulfilled, the ego ascribes the resultant sense of joy to the acquisition of an external. However, this is a clever illusion because the actual source of the pleasure is that the block to experiencing the joy of the Self has been temporarily removed. The source of the experienced happiness is the radiance of the Self that shines forth when it is not shut off by an ego distress.”
— Dr. David Hawkins, I: Reality and Subjectivity, pg. 189

Real Life

Real Life

Despite beliefs contrary
Our culture's message is
Death is a frightful end..
There is unwillingness to
Consider that we stumble
As we walk in the darkness..
Gripped by handcuffs
Of  illusory separation..

Disregarding many hints
We weep as we hold a finality
In appearances of life ending..
We all await that moment
Whether lengthy or brief
To discover that Life has
No beginning and no end..

No mistakes

No mistakes

How can we say that
There are no mistakes
In our lives..?
Lets see..

When we Recognize
That our limitation belief
Creates the concept of a
So-called mistake..

We then Recognize
Our unlimited Self as
Container and dissolver
Of all beliefs and concepts..

"I cannot tell you enough that every situation that happens to you is necessary for your growth. There are no mistakes. Everything that you've been through, everything that you're going through, is absolutely necessary for your spiritual growth. If it does not look kosher to you, realize it's your mind reacting. It's your ego reacting. And the way to handle it, is to just observe. Do not get involved by arguing, fighting, trying to change things. Just observe. If you can observe without getting excited, then you've passed that test and you will not have to repeat it. But if you get angry, you get upset, you want to get even, you're always thinking about it, and you have hate and animosity, even though you move away from that situation, you will meet that situation again, and again, and again, until you learn not to react to it."~Robert Adams

Living in sin..

Living in sin..

Words of transformation and
Words of activism are subject
To the lens viewing these words
And all words..
The lens used by a vast majority
Is the lens of "separation"
(Sin is the Christian term)
So..most of us are living in sin..!

Leading to the inquiry:
Is a new lens available in which
The old lens melts in the fires
Of Truth now told...?

Peter Sawtell...Too Much Attention to Climate?
http://www.eco-justice.org/E-191025.asp

Excerpts..

If we spend a bit less time and energy on climate, though, and give some attention to species extinction, and toxic chemicals, and water problems, then we might start to understand that our whole society needs to change course. Such a transformational change opens up ways to more effectively address the climate crisis, and the extinction crisis, and the plastic-in-the-ocean crisis, and the whole web of inter-connected problems.

Dear Peter,

You asked for responses, so here is mine.  Perhaps we need to step back

from both "transformation" and "activism," to become aware of the
"lens" through which we are viewing these concepts.  That lens, used
by our culture, is based on an unquestioned assumption of "separation."
Even when we positively assent to what needs to be done, whether climate
change or plastics, the dualistic lens remains intact.  So, I would say
that there is a basic reversal needed which allows recognition of our true
Identity..an Identity not limited to the physical body and mind, which
we blindly assume.  Such recognition will transform your question of
the relative importance of transformation and activism, and other
questions prompted by our lens of separation (sin in Christian lexicon).
I would say that all of Jesus' teachings point to the urgent nature of
discovering who we are..really.. Yet, somehow we continue to live in sin!  :)

OK..I am sure you get my drift.. (Keep up your vital work!)

Freedom. (with Jeff Foster)

Freedom

in progress

We Remember Now

A familiar prayer

We remember now
Our lives as Grace..
And we Know
Heaven and earth as
Expressions of Grace..
With this Experience
The Kingdom has come..
Hereafter we expect
Our daily nourishment
As recognition that all
Debts are dissolved in
The Grace which we are..
Thus..we express now
Our gratitude and joy
For the power and glory
In our lives lived as
Grace...

All appearance is Source (with Tony Parsons)

Appearance is Source

Appearance
Is a saving word
Saving our anxiety
Of who we are..
The simplicity of
Appearance is
A temporary shaping
Of our real Self
Nothing more..!
Then we inquire
What is being shaped
And the reply stuns...!

There is no me or you, no seeker, no enlightenment, no disciple and no guru. There is no better or worse, no path, and nothing that has to be achieved. All appearance is source. All that apparently manifests—the world, the life story, the hypnotic dream of separation, the search for home, is the one appearing as two, the nothing appearing as everything, the absolute appearing as the particular.
There is no separate intelligence weaving a destiny, and no choice functioning at any level. Nothing is happening, but this, as it is, invites the apparent seeker to rediscover that which already is . . the abiding uncaused, unchanging, impersonal silence from which unconditional love overflows and celebrates. It is the wonderful mystery.. .   Tony Parsons..

Our Non-dual Lens

Our Non-dual Lens

This..our true Lens
Has been shaded by
Life-long conditioning..
A lens of separation
Depicting subject and object
Seems as our means of
Perception..
In pockets of humanity
There are many who
Have known the
Availability of the Lens
But most humans
Have not asked the
Question of how this
Lens may be recognized..
Such Recognition is the
Path to Peace
in our time..

Found Art Objects

Found Art Objects

We view with admiration
This creative approach
Of artistic expression..
It seems quirky to some
But might we not say that
All art is composed of
Found art objects..?
The object may be
Something on a beach
Or a pile of trash
Or a sudden thought
Seemingly from nowhere..
Might it appear as the
Next brushstroke or a
Word on this paper..?
It seems that all real art
Is 100% made of
Subtle or not so subtle
Objects found in this
Moment...!

To begin with I, Awareness, am found as the witness in the background of experience. Then, objects recede into the background and I shine in the foreground of all experience. Then, the apparent distinction and distance between Myself and objects dissolves, and I am found in everything and everyone, and everyone and everything is found in Me.

In the gaps

In the gaps

The silence between
Each word we say
Each note we play..
Sleep between dreams..
Attention to gaps
Or rather..falling into
The gaps..is recognizing
Our Home..the placeless
Place..from which we
Have never departed...

I learn a great deal by merely observing you,
and letting you talk as long as you please,
and taking note of what you do not say.

The Wellspring (5)

The Wellspring

There is a wellspring
From which all religions flow
Which when recognized
Diminishes the rancor
Over the outward forms
Which have torn
And bloodied adherents
Now and in history's
Telling..

And the amazing thing
Is that this wellspring
Is the same Wellspring
Which you and I
Need to recognize in
Our inquiry of
Who we really are...!

Slumbering Science

Slumbering Science

A world of separate objects
Has been the province of science
For centuries following centuries..
But now an occasional shudder
Cast by an uneasy perception
That our roots in separation
Have been only a useful dream..
The dream has turned sour
And has drawn a darkened film
Over eyes..eyes seeking
Understanding in the shadows..
New discoveries find Fields
Of openness and not-knowing
Leading a few scientists to
A science clear of slumber...

Brain as Field..

Literary Ethics...Ralph Waldo Emerson

Literary Ethics
by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Be neither chided nor flattered out of your position of perpetual
inquiry. Neither dogmatize, nor accept another's dogmatism.
Why should you renounce your right to traverse the star-lit deserts
of truth, for the premature comforts of an acre, house, and barn?
~~Ralph Waldo Emerson..Literary Ethics

...so you shall get your lesson out of the hour, and the object, whether
it be a concentrated or a wasteful employment, even in reading a dull book,
or working off a stint of mechanical day labor, which your necessities or
the necessities of others impose.
~~Ralph Waldo Emerson..Literary Ethics

Perpetual Inquiry

Perpetual Inquiry

There are so many claims
For our attention..
Some cause us to linger
With tastes and feelings..
Some may be delicious.. until
They obscure Who we are
And cause a forgetting of
Our real fulfillment which
Only arrives by recalling
The rich rewards of
Perpetual inquiry...

Out of the hour

Out of the hour

The deception of separation
Makes weighty the appearances
Of this hour..
We wish for a different hour
With appearances more pleasing..
Until a spontaneous discovery
That all appearances live in
The infinity of our Self..which
Does not change with the
Dizzying whims of each hour...

...so you shall get your lesson out of the hour, and the object, whether
it be a concentrated or a wasteful employment, even in reading a dull book,
or working off a stint of mechanical day labor, which your necessities or
the necessities of others impose.

Gospel of John...Non-Dual Version

This is a work in progress.  I am attempting
to produce a non-dual version of
the Gospel of John...Take a look!

Gospel of John
https://www.biblica.com/bible/niv/john/2/

Gospel of John...Non-Dual Version

Chapter 1...Word Recognition

The Word
Was the beginning..
Bringing seeming separation
A creation of others..

Light does not begin or end
Is eternal and infinite..
Yet otherness seems
To obscure the Light
That is..until Recognition is..

Recognition is new birth
In which Light as Grace
Is found to be
Shining everywhere
Even in Nazareth..

Voices call in the wilderness..
Witnessing Light
Here and everywhere..
Yet..a wilderness of separation
Seems to retain its grasp..

We regard the fig tree
Independent and alone
Until Recognition finds it within
And made of our Light..

Chapter 2...Table Turning

There was a turning of the tables

Bringing a new understanding
Of the real Temple of the body..
Which needs to go home
To re-discover its true nature
Made of Grace..
This is the reversal which will
Bring Self Recognition and
Accompanying peace to each of us
And to our world..
This Recognition is the real miracle
Conveyed by the familiar story of
Water into wine...

Chapter 3...Night Recognition

A teacher arrived in the night

Bringing an understanding which
Seemed to be veiled
Concerning the infinite Daughtership
Of each and every one of us..
The new birth of our true Identity
Is crucial in all times..especially
In our time of unending confusion..
Baptizing with water and Spirit
Cleanses darkened lenses allowing
Recognition of what we really are..
Teacher and Baptizer are names of
Those who are awakening Discovery
And freeing those who have not yet
Found themselves already free...

Chapter 4...The Wellspring

They met by a historical well

He from a tradition's inside
She from outside..
He knew their common Source
And we might assume
Gained her recognition by
Recounting his assurance of
Living waters welling to eternal life..
The inner Wellspring he knew
Can be experienced by all
Without regard to life stories..
Or to claims of traditions
Which seemingly conceal
This most joyful Welling..

Our inner Wellspring awaits

To each her own inquiry..
The energy of the Wellspring
Feeds both sowers and reapers
And all Wellspring activities
In the world.. bringing healing
And Gladness together...

Chapter 5...Pick up your Mat

Pick up your Mat

Your true Grounding
And walk..
Dispatching this advice
The teacher slipped away..
One increased and the other
Decreased..a repeated lesson..
What was the teaching
So effectively applied..?
For that we are referred to
The rest of this chapter..

The teaching addresses the

Status of each of us as
Sons and Daughters residing
Within and made of Divinity..
Recognition of this is healing
Assuming we want to get well..
This teacher may have passed
This lesson without words
At poolside that day..but
Clarity is served for us
As readers: Please recognize
Your true Grounding..

Finally..in a nutshell:

There are obstacles
In presenting this experiential
Teaching for those who are
Ignoring the Mat on which
They stand...

Chapter 6...Abundance

Abundance is the name

Of that in each of us
Known as grace and peace..
Abundance knows no limits
Is the essence of all quantities
Whether fish or bread or
Time and space..

Some find this new Identity

Named simply as Abundance
As frightening seemingly as
Walking on water or empty space..

There is an immediacy in such

Experience..a Recognition of
I am..in ourselves..and others..
Abundance is indeed..I am
Eternal and available
To all of us..Here and Now...

Chapter 7...Careful Teaching

This teacher knew

His teaching was vital
Vital so that others might
Understand who they are..
But there is something frightening here
An experience of turning which many
Were not ready to receive..and so
The teacher's time had not arrived
For them..

Mis-understanding was rampant

By those living in separation
Not understanding that the teacher's
Real Self was doing the teaching and
Not the separated appearance he
Presented to many of those gathered..

The teacher knew this opportunity

To receive his teaching would soon
Be over due to the nature of their
Assumed separation..He could tell
By the questions they asked..but
Knew also that they might
At any time Recognize what he
Recognized..that is..when
Their time arrives...

Chapter 8...Caught in adultery

The teacher knew his Identity

And the Identity of all the characters
Appearing in this Chapter..
But the characters did not know
Their own Identity..
The woman was about to be stoned
When the teacher allowed a glimpse
Of the shadow nature of beliefs in
Separation (sin)
And our common suffering..

And how do we recognize our Identity..?

With attention to the name..I am.. and
The associations with: Light of life
With the Father whence we came
With the Son of Man whom we are
With our eternal Identity preceding
As it were..Abraham..
The teacher spoke with authority which
We might do when we recognize our own
Identity...

Chapter 9...Blindness

Blindness is fundamentally

Perception in separation
Accompanied by the belief that separation
Independently forms our everyday reality..

The teacher corrects the belief that the

Perception of separation (sin)..belonged
To the blind man or parents..
We all perceive..as did the teacher..
Through the lens of our egos..until
Our Recognition of the more truthful Lens..

This Chapter then considers the response

Of those attempting to understand all this
With their own lenses of separation..
Thus.. the confusion..and fearfulness..

A special confusion arises with the

Belief that Moses rather than this teacher
Was divinely connected and certified
As a teacher..
They apparently did not recognize that
Recognition is the qualification for all
Teachers..including the blind man and
You and me...!

Chapter 10...The Gate..I am

The teacher announced that
"I am"  is the Gate which all
Need to recognize for their salvation..
The Gate is the Openness in
Each of us which precedes all
Of our thoughts and perceptions..
The Gate is familiar to those
Who have experienced it and is
Quickly distinguished from
Other gates suggested by
Strangers and hired hands..

I and the Father/Mother are One

Is the statement misunderstood
Over the centuries..
Misunderstood over the limited
Application to just the Teacher..
This statement is the portrayal
Of the real Identity of each of us..
Are we mere men and women..?
Or does the teaching illustrate
That Grace and Peace are
The makeup of each of us...?

Finally..we lay down our lives

That is..we become aware of
The falsity of separation..
Awareness shows us that we
Are not whom we thought
And so we are then able
To take up our Lives again...

Chapter 11...Resurrection of Life

The Teacher taught
Death is not the end
When we do not stumble by
Walking in the darkness
Of separation..
The experience of  I am
Ends illusory separation and
Awakens our true Self..
Such is proclaimed to be the
Resurrection of life..

But we weep..as did the Teacher
Recognizing the hold of belief
On  appearances of life ending
As with Lazarus and those we love..

We all await the joyful Recognition
In the brevity of a moment
Of Life with no beginning and
No end..

Chapter 12...The Poor Among You

Self realization with gratitude
transcends considerations
Of rich or poor..
This Teacher of our own Identity
Attracts unbridled attention..
And the teaching simply says
Attachment to life in this world
Must die..as a kernel of wheat dies
For the recognition of our
Eternal Identity..
He pointed to our own Light
And then hid himself  to allow
Our own Light to shine..
In other words..the same Divinity
Shines in all of us..look at me and
Look at yourself and find our
Common and True Nature..
Poor no more...!

Chapter 13...Quickness

We live by hours and
The hour of our ending
Comes for each of us..
The purpose of our hours
Is to Recognize that we
And others and everything
Are made of the Love that
Hours cannot measure..
Humility and feet washing
Are the vessels with which
We might recognize that
All are clean..even those who
Remain attached to the dream..
All that is done is done quickly
The wind blows as it does..
Knowing the quickness
Of our stories
Brings the Recognition:
Stories only serve to Know
I am who I am...

Chapter 14...Being where I am

You know the way to..I am
Which is our common Place..
That Place might be experienced
At any time if we Know that
I am..is..the way and the truth
And the life..
But many remain puzzled by the
Conditioning of their lives which
Insists in the belief of separation..
Knowing ourselves as Divinity
Removes the surprise in saying that
Greater works are possible by
Each of us..works are simply
Divinity in action..
Awareness of Divinity in each
Constitutes an ever-present
Advocate..So to speak..
I am..is..Peace..Recognized...!

Chapter 15...Remember the Vine

The vine
Emerges from Divine Awareness
Which is the Source from which
Each vine makes appearance..
We..as vines.. are always clean
Reflecting our Divine emergence
Yet our branches need pruning
As we forget we are Vines..

I am..is..the true Vine
Forgetting..we seem as branches
Beliefs in separate branches
Must be burned in the fire
Of  Vine Recognition..our
True Selves..

The Recognition of ourselves
As Love without dimension
Brings complete joy and
Real Friendship occurs when
Friends abide in this Love..

You may encounter difficulties
In Knowing your true Self..
Others not yet Knowing prefer
That you share their worldly
Assumptions  of separation
And conflict..which is harmful
As Grace goes unrecognized...

Chapter 16...The Teacher departs

The Teacher reminds us
Religions may reject us
Because they do not yet Know..
And another reminder:
I must go to allow strengthening
Of your own Knowing of I am
This is good for you..
You will discover in your Knowing
The real meanings of sin and
Righteousness and judgment..
I am..you will forget for a while
And then Remember..
Remembering will transform
Grief to Joy..without the Teacher..
You will Know Peace even as
The world spells trouble...

Chapter 17...Knowing Unity

John 17

Jesus Prays to Be Glorified

1After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

Jesus Prays for His Disciples

“I have revealed you[a] to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of[b] your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by[c] that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by[d] the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

Jesus Prays for All Believers

20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you[e] known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
