Days are numbered
The separate-self by the ego energized
becomes frightened when the Self peeks through..
When glimpsed just once the Self has a foothold
prompting those questions of What am I..?
But then we ask about separation's long story
since birth until this moment, with joy and pain
our lives have unfolded and the folds seem
certain..
But the Self is not deterred, and appears again..
Our question is louder and the response is
silence..
The frightened self recounts many victories
but knows now separate days are numbered...
