Step out of doors

Whoever you are: step out of doors tonight,
Out of the room that lets you feel secure.
Infinity is open to your sight.
Whoever you are.
With eyes that have forgotten how to see
From viewing things already too well-known,
Lift up into the dark a huge, black tree
And put it in the heavens: tall, alone.
And you have made the world and all you see.
It ripens like the words still in your mouth.
And when at last you comprehend its truth,
Then close your eyes and gently set it free.

Sensations

Sensations

Sensations reside in our bodies
that is the common assumption..
But when we consider:
sensation vibrates without edges
 the body containment ends
and sensations color I am..
In a rooted sense:
sensations arrive before
thought limits and names..
When body boundaries end
sensations are seen as
simply consciousness vibrating
distances dissolve
and we stand as
unlimited luminous
Self...

Shakespeare's Time

Time is very slow for those who wait;
very fast for those who are scared;
very long for those who lament;
very short for those who celebrate; but for those who love,
time is eternal.

William Shakespeare

Time

How do we relate to time
in this new year..?
Does it weigh over
 recent happenings
both close and far..?
If these weighing events
have kicked off a search
due to an impression of a
happiness loss
we need be alert for the
suffering which will
accompany our search..
We search for something
to dismiss our companion
that suffering one..
A new year's resolution
may be an expression
a starting gun
of a search beginning..
Time weighs..!
In recovery
we ask:  What is it..?
time, that is..
An illusive thought..?
And in what
is that thought lodged..?
Finding the Lodging
may end the search
with a finding of
the happiness sought...

Smoky Dragon

Smoky Dragon

Professor Wheeler gave me the title
this quantum understanding of
life and truth..
His Dragon expresses
at last:  science is discovering
Consciousness..
Consciousness is his Smoky Dragon
and why not call it: I am..
Everything exists in potential in
I am..and we might be scientific
with my other name:  superposition..
Then my pronouncement:
I am a particle..!
and lo it is observed..
Thinking much larger I might say:
I am a Big Bang..!
and lo again..
A departing question for the Professor:
When might we see through our
fog and fear
and absorb your glorious
teaching...?

The question that intrigued the great American physicist John Archibald Wheeler in the last decades of his life was: “Are life and mind irrelevant to the structure of the universe, or are they central to it?” He suggested that the nature of reality was revealed by the bizarre laws of quantum mechanics. According to the quantum theory, before the observation is made, a subatomic particle exists in several states, called a superposition (or, as Wheeler called it, a ‘smoky dragon’). Once the particle is observed, it instantaneously collapses into a single position. For more see:

Kali

Kali

This Hindu darling
of darkness and destruction..
Some say she arrived
as the new year unfurled..
She strides through
our history page
knifing the new
burning tired refuse
constrained by time..
Time as illusory in
its governing claim..
Her incisions are sudden
stabbing her way
oblivious of time..
Refuse is reformed
as new and not new..
A new movie scene
on a now noticed screen
and for the attentive
a most luminous Screen...

Impressions

Impressions

In my more youthful past
in that memory as thought now rising
a philosopher in my reading
used a wax impression to gain
understanding of thought formation..
Which philosopher?
The name has escaped
a coming and going as
impermanent thoughts come and go..
I am awaiting a re-qcquaintance..
But let us proceed..
Did that philosopher ask about the wax?
Might he have said:  You are the wax
out of which your thought takes form..
Wax as a faithful metaphor
for Consciousness..our true Self..
Thoughts arising as small self
and projecting a world..
Oneness so speaks...

(if you know that philosopher,
I would be indebted if...}

Goldilocks

Goldilocks

This science puzzle
perceived from a perch of material entrenchment
finds astonishing the evidence pointing
to our Goldilocks home..
But can we say science is a changin'
The familiar perch is upending
as experience without
so much complexity
finds the dripping of raindrops
from the cloud of Awareness
unnumbered precipitations of
worlds and worlds
some only rocky and others pearled..
A multiverse found and felt
by a pedestrian
sipping a soda
awaiting the green light
today downtown...

Geraint F. Lewis’ day job involves creating synthetic universes on supercomputers. They can be overwhelmingly bizarre, unstable places. The question that compels him is: how did our universe come to be so perfectly tuned for stability and life? for more see:
