Ninth Duino Elegy (Rilke)

Are we here, perhaps, for saying: house,

bridge, fountain, gate, jug, fruit-tree, window –

at most: column, tower......but for saying, realise,

oh, for a saying such as the things themselves would never

have profoundly said.
